Aliağa is located in the south of the district, Kınık and Yunusemre and Soma districts of Manisa province are located in the east, İvrindi, Burhaniye and Ayvalık districts of Balıkesir province are located in the north, Dikili is located in the west and the Aegean Sea is located in the southwest.
It is the most important district of Bakırçay basin in terms of agricultural activities, industry, trade, history and tourism. Bergama, which has monumental structures from the Ionian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods,[2] is considered one of the two representatives of cultural tourism in Izmir together with Selçuk district.[2] The ancient city of Pergamon, located in the center of the district, is important as the cultural, scientific and artistic center of the Hellenistic period. The most important vegetation is stone pine and cotton plant.
